Shalom, dear friends and partners,

OCTOBER 7 • WE REMEMBER
We remember. We pray. We stand together.
In October, we pause to remember the lives lost in the attacks of October 7, 2023. We remember the families whose lives were forever changed, those who were taken hostage, and all those who continue to carry the weight of that day.
For us, remembrance is not simply looking back. It is a commitment to honour those who were murdered and those who died defending the land of Israel. We continue to pray for peace and healing, and to stand with Israel and the Jewish people during a difficult and painful time.

SIMCHAT TORAH
Celebrating the Joy of Torah
Following the solemnity of the High Holy Days, our congregations came together in celebration for Simchat Torah, rejoicing in the gift of the Torah and the privilege of continuing its study from generation to generation.
The celebration was filled with singing, dancing, fellowship, and the joy of being together as a community. These moments remind us that Jewish life is not only about remembering our past, but also about celebrating our faith and passing it forward.

COMING THIS MONTH
Rabbi Alex Yalenga Travels to the United States
This October, Rabbi Alex Yalenga will be travelling throughout the United States, beginning in mid-October, to visit congregations, meet with supporters, and share about the work taking place through the Zambia Messianic Fellowship.
His travels are an opportunity to strengthen existing partnerships and build new relationships with people who want to learn more about the ministry in Zambia. From supporting vulnerable children to strengthening congregations and developing sustainable projects, there is much to share about what God is doing through the work here.
We look forward to sharing more about Rabbi Alex's journey and the people he meets along the way.

BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS IN ZAMBIA
A Meeting with Chief Mposi
Rabbi Alex and Rebbetzin Fay Yalenga recently had the opportunity to meet with the leader of all the Lemba Jews Chief Mposi.
Cheif Mposi is the leader of the almost 200,000 Lemba Jews in Southern Africa. He is also a believer in Yeshua.
The meeting provided an opportunity for conversation, relationship-building, and learning from one another. Relationships like these are an important part of the work we do in Zambia, as we seek to build bridges within our communities and strengthen meaningful partnerships.

AFRICA & ISRAEL
The DRC Looking Toward Jerusalem
The Democratic Republic of Congo has expressed a desire to strengthen its relationship with Israel, including plans to move its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
Such a move would be significant, reflecting the growing relationship between the DRC and Israel and Jerusalem’s importance as the capital of Israel. We continue to follow these developments and pray for wisdom and favour as relations between African nations and Israel continue to grow.

SPONSOR A CHILD • CHANGE A LIFE
Meet Shekaina
At Jerome Fleischer School, orphans are given the opportunity to receive an education, school meals, learning materials, and the support they need to grow.
|
Shekaina Doubt • Grade 3
Shekaina is in good health and enjoys singing and dancing. When she grows up, she hopes to become a nurse.
Her father passed away when she was just over a year old, and she was later abandoned by her mother in the care of her sister in Matero. Concerned for her wellbeing, her grandmother brought her to the school.
With the right support, she can keep learning and working towards her dream of becoming a nurse.
You can be part of Shekaina's journey. Consider sponsoring Shekaina and other orphans at the school for $45 a month. Through sponsorship, you can help provide children like Shekaina with the education, meals, school materials, and support they need.
